Es war ein echter Coup, als Bandleader und Bassist Lee Payne bekannt gab, dass Harry „The Tyrant“ Conklin, der nach Griechenland gezogen war, seiner Band Cloven Hoof beitreten würde. Der ehemalige Jag-Panzer-Frontmann war der perfekte Ersatz für Russ North, der von den Fans als der ultimative Cloven-Hoof-Sänger angesehen wurde – leider ist er nicht mehr unter uns. Dementsprechend waren die Reaktionen auf das erste Album der Band mit Harry Conklin am Mikrofon überwältigend. „Heathen Cross“ erschien im Jahr 2024.

Nun folgt Cloven Hoofs zehntes Studioalbum mit dem Titel „Never A Prophet In Your Own Land“. Wieder einmal ist die Gesangsleistung von „The Tyrant“ Weltklasse. Lee Payne grinst: „Das Lob gebührt ganz Harry. Wir können uns wirklich glücklich schätzen, einen so brillanten Sänger und Frontmann in der Band zu haben.“

Every band needs continuity, and Cloven Hoof have certainly had their fair share of line-up changes in the past. This time, however, is different, as the bassist explains: 'I am delighted to say that we have the same stable line-up as Heathen Cross. Harry Conklin is on vocals, Luke Hatton and Chris Coss are on guitars, and Ash Baker is on drums. Ash Baker is on drums. Luke, Chris and Ash have all been with Cloven Hoof for over ten years; they know their roles inside out. I have been in the band since 1979, playing bass from the very beginning, so I should have a good idea of what I am doing by now!”

Never a Prophet in Your Own Land is a varied album containing mid-tempo songs, faster tunes, epic compositions, and straight-up heavy metal rockers — a great mix.
