King Diamond is renowned for his tales of the occult and demonic themes, as well as his penchant for atmospheric horror and changing masks. He is one of the most outstanding figures in today's metal scene. He wrote metal history with Mercyful Fate and King Diamond, and has been an important part of the scene for decades. Since 1986, he has released many classic horror metal albums which, because of their outstanding storylines and musical variety, are unique in the hard rock scene.

Following a successful debut with his first two albums, 'Fatal Portrait' and 'Abigail', King Diamond achieved another masterpiece in 1988. Them was recorded without the support of his former Mercyful Fate bandmates but still reached high positions in the Billboard charts and became King Diamond's most successful release in America up to that point. Drummer Mikkey Dee played with passion, and the music proved to be authentic. Just one year later, King Diamond followed up with the excellent album Conspiracy and simultaneously showcased his new make-up with the scorching songs. This album also demonstrated that Kim Bendix Petersen (King Diamond's real name) is one of the most creative and charismatic musicians in Europe. This fact remains true to this day.
