“Night Eterna”l is the eighth studio album by Portuguese gothic metal band Moonspell.

Fernando Ribeiro words about "Night Eternal" Reissue:

THE NIGHT IS OURS, THE NIGHT IS ETERNAL
"Time sets the difference. Everything we do, everything we are belongs to time. Time owns, uses and wears us out. When I overhear an old school talk about Metal, I
am always excited to hear more. Until the moment when who’s talking refers to the year 2000, 2001 as old school. Then I stop hearing, it’s a gut feeling. My
transposition of time is perhaps larger and I date old school as something belonging the Seventies, Eighties or Nineties. My internal clock stops there, as far as old
school goes. There will be time. Curiously enough, for me our old school material has much to do with the time before Sin/Pecado. We are convinced that since that
album in particular, things about Moonspell took a drastic change, at all levels. Another noteworthy “epistemological” barrier on our history as a band was when we
switched from Century Media to Steamhammer/SPV. The wheels turned inside the band as we were leaving comfort zone. We had much to prove.
We started off with Memorial in 2006 which was met with an enthusiasm we haven’t felt in years. That was obviously weird for us as we thought The Antidote to have
been a great effort by the band. Yet, things “took off” again, as much as they can for Moonspell. We didn’t wait too much and we were really keen in refining our
sound with the next one album for SPV. So we wrote NIGHT ETERNAL. Shorter songs, more contrast between quiet and in your face and we were happy with our
slice of Metal Gothic we produced in there. We didn’t fall for excessive “sopranization”, besides the beautiful Scorpion Flower with Anneke; there were sweet
moments but enough spice and space for sorrow.

NIGHT ETERNAL might (still) not be old school in my account, but I consider it as one of the best albums we ever wrote, with a tight concept and great songs. Why
re-release it now? It’s been more than ten years since its original release but this one it’s very deeply representative of what MOONSPELL is. I still sounds actual
and it’s a hard find in the market. More than that, unknowingly, this was meant to be our last album through SPV as they were out of business for a while. So to
speak, the rights for the Moonspell catalogue between 2008 and 2011 are now owned by the band, by ourselves. If you hold this record right now , in your hands, this
reissue, you are, more than ever, supporting a band that in a very competitive world, full of legal tricks, never stopped to fight for their independence.
Properly remastered and with the full tracklist of ALL songs we wrote and recorded for this album (including Age of Mothers, Earth of mine and Unhearted), ALMA
MATER RECORDS is proud to bring yet another MOONSPELL title home and of course wishes to thank you for keep on collecting our releases.
Regardless of the time that keeps running from us so fast and so slippery, music keeps us in timeless company, as eternal as the night, as if in a spring of rage, first
light of our day. " Fernando Ribeiro, March´2019
