In its original CD form, this was ABIGOR's most celebrated and best-selling album, alongside CRADLE OF FILTH's debut, which marked the beginning of gothic black metal. Yet, in stark contrast to its commercial success, behind the well-executed female vocals and tasteful keyboard additions lies a Satanic Black Metal backbone in its purest form. In this sense, Nachthymnen is a true product of the underground's peak moment in 1995, when Black Metal reached its ugliest stage.

In this regard, Nachthymnen is almost unique, written by the reckless Austrian trio at the age of 19 and 20. It unites beauty and wickedness, melancholic longing and an apocalyptic death drive. It is the most majestic album in the band’s history and captures the essence of the fully blossoming 1990s black metal scene at its turning point — a scene which soon fell victim to a crisis of disorientation and mainstream corruption. This LP version, delivered for the first time in a glossy gatefold sleeve, perfectly transfers the 1995 Hörnix sound to vinyl. It features a bonus CD with 1994/95 instrumental demo rehearsals, including early alternative versions.
