With over 2.5 million copies sold worldwide, “City of Evil” remains one of Avenged Sevenfold's most popular albums. It includes the fan favorite “Bat Country”, the single “Burn It Doen” and “The Wicked End”. Avenged Sevenfold (abbreviated A7X), the American heavy metalcore band from Huntington Beach, California, was founded in 1999. Avenged Sevenfold are known for their varied alternative metal sound and their dramatic, sometimes explicit images on album covers and merchandise. On their debut album “Sounding the Seventh Trumpet”, the band developed a metalcore sound, which they largely retained until their second album “Waking the Fallen”. With their third album “City of Evil”, their first release on major label Warner, the band's style evolved into a more traditional heavy metal style, referencing NWOBHW and Metallica, among others. Ranked 63rd on Guitar World Magazine's “100 Greatest Guitar Albums of All Time” list. The anniversary editions of the double album are available as red and yellow swirl vinyl (limited to 500 copies worldwide), or as a classic black 180g pressing, which is absolutely not classic for Hopeless Records, but a rarity. Both come with a silver foil sleeve, which will be exclusive to the 20th Anniversary 2025 editions.
