FALKENBACH were originally a solo project conceived by Vratyas Vakyas and became officially active for the first time in 1995 with the demo "Læknishendr". His second album " ...Magni blandinn ok megintíri...", released in 1998, can be classified as a matured, more melodic continuation of the debut " ...En their medh riki fara..." (1996). The multi-instrumentalist successfully remained true to its blackened pagan metal style with influences from both Bathory and the second Nordic black metal wave. "...Magni blandinn ok megintíri..." is rightly still considered an important milestone of the genre.
