Today they are esteemed JUNO Award winners, but before Ungentle Exhumation, Cryptopsy were just a whisper in the Canadian underground.

After adopting a new name and undergoing several line-up changes, the now legendary Cryptopsy recorded their first demo as a five-piece in 1993. The band later re-recorded most of these songs for their blasphemous debut, but Ungentle Exhumation already bore their unmistakable death metal signature. “Gravaged: A Cryptopsy” is split open by the hair-raising shrieks and brutal barks of Lord Worm, while Flo Mounier unhinges the closing ‘Mutant Christ’ with technical precision.
