Odes to the Gods - Orange LP

DEFENDERS OF THE FAITH was originally a solo project by Christofer Johnsson (THERION), through which he realised his childhood dream of creating a pure 1980s heavy metal album. However, it has since evolved into a THERION side project. Between 2022 and 2024, THERION released a lot of material and toured extensively, but Christofer recorded the drums, bass and guitars a bit here and there, using THERION members.

Over time, Thomas became more involved, 'improving some things', and ultimately became deeply involved, rewriting most of the songs and writing material for a second album. The album, 'Odes to the Gods', is a musical tribute to the bands that shaped young Christofer's mind, including Accept, Judas Priest, Scorpions and Iron Maiden.

Guests on the album include: Björn Höglund (EASY ACTION, HOVEN DROVEN) – drums; Ally Storch (HAGGARD) – violin, viola and cello; David Holmes – acoustic guitar; Christopher Davidsson (MAJESTICA) – lead and backing vocals; Diego Valdez (DIO DISCIPLES) – lead and backing vocals; and Ripper Owens (KK's PRIEST, ex. JUDAS PRIEST, ex. YNGWIE MALMSTEEN, ex. ICED EARTH).
