After leaving Helloween, Kai Hansen founded the band Gamma Ray in 1989. The debut album Heading for Tomorrow, which was released in 1990, was recorded with the line-up Ralf Scheepers, Uwe Wessel, Mathias Burchardt and Kai Hansen.
