Description

The first pressing of the black LP edition comes in a gatefold cover and is limited to 450 copies.

Regardless of the stylistic path they take, Green Carnation have never shied away from making grand, gloomy statements.

Founded in the early '90s by former Emperor bassist Tchort, the Norwegian band quickly amassed a cult following thanks to one of the most ambitious metal epics of all time. Even before going on hiatus in the mid-2000s, the ever-evolving band flashed their dramatic flair by performing their acoustic verses underneath a mountain dam. However, there was one tale — or three, to be exact — that continued to elude them. Until now. With the 'A Dark Poem' trilogy beginning today, Green Carnation finally unveil their masterpiece.

The idea for the trilogy dates back to GREEN CARNATION's early years, but the first part of A Dark Poem cites various passages from across their illustrious catalogue. The lead single, 'In Your Paradise', reaches new heights of heaviness, swept out to sea by sublime riffs and sombre symphonic flourishes. Although navigated with the band's familiar mastery, the view from 'The Shores of Melancholia' is far from heavenly. Judgement Day looms around every corner, leading them from the scarlet clouds of war in the title track towards Floydian whirlpools of paranoia, and finally shipwrecking them on a second wave of black metal.
