Description
Jethro Tull is celebrating the 50th anniversary of their eighth studio album, Minstrel in the Gallery, with a new marble vinyl edition. Originally released on September 5, 1975, the album marked a new direction for the band, moving away from their earlier work and returning to a mix of electric and acoustic songs. The new version has been remixed by Steven Wilson.
This juxtaposition of acoustic and electric elements has been a feature of Jethro Tull's music throughout their career, but perhaps nowhere is it better expressed than on “Minstrel In The Gallery,” which, after the earlier albums labeled “Blues” and “prog,” is clearly a “rock” album, albeit with a maturity and sophistication in both the lyrics and harmonies that underscore Tull's originality.
It was the last album to feature bassist Jeffery Hammond. Minstrel in the Gallery reached the Top 20 worldwide and has since won multiple awards.
