When Leslie West passed away in December 2020, he left behind a tremendous legacy of recordings that few rock guitarists can boast. But West had more to offer than great songs (though he created plenty of them, of course); there was his brilliant, idiosyncratic sound that rocked arenas and stadiums around the world. But he had not only a very special sound, but also a feeling that no one could surpass. Sharp and sensual melodies leapt from his fingertips - with a deft flick of his wrist, he sounded as if a Delta bluesman had picked up a fiddle. These and other elements helped make West one of the most important, influential and irreplaceable guitarists of the rock era.
