Description

Following their explosive third album, "A Fistful of Dirt", the folk punks from Münster, Germany, headed by their own Irish bastard, are launching a new album. The name says it all: "NEVER MIND THE BASTARDS - HERE IS MR. IRISH BOLLOCKS".

It started as a random idea during a long ride in the tour bus and turned into one of the band's most challenging projects. After eight months of recording in four different studios, the album was finally finished.
Having a go at the SEX PISTOLS album "Never Mind the Bollocks" the Irish folk punk band, which will celebrate its 5-year birthday in September, put its signature twist on every last track - from God Save the Queen and Anarchy in the UK to New York and Submission. The group used a brass section alongside its usual mix including banjo, mandolin, accordion and tin whistle.

The whole "bastardised" album maintains a healthy dose of respect for the original, with aggressive guitars and a voice to blast the head off the top of your Guinness. Album number four for Münster's finest fires the SEX PISTOLS 1977 recording into the 21st century without getting lodged in any clichés and is sure to win admiration outside the folk punk community. Anyone inclined to check out the scene will find an album embellished with the genre's typical set of instruments and a brass section which also sees the band stay true to its punk rock roots.

What would Johnny Rotten have to say about it all? A German band with an Irish singer that's just stirred the London-based SEX PISTOLS' legendary album into a folk punk brew!? He'd probably sigh "those damn bastards" into his luke-warm beer.

About the band:
MR. IRISH BASTARD was formed in 2006 by singer Mr. Irish Bastard Himself, bass player Boeuf Strongenuff, banjo player Gran E. Smith and tin whistler Lady Lily. The Levellers, heroes in the world of folk punk, invited the band to support them on their 2006 European tour when they had only recorded one song, "Stupid Bastards". These days the band tours internationally, and has graced the stage at over 250 venues in 12 countries including China and Japan, performing alongside big-names like The Pogues, New Model Army, Danko Jones, Gaslight Anthem, Ignite and many, many more.
