As is well known, true art is characterized above all by its permanent renewal, a combination of the tried and tested and the innovative. Like almost all influential acts in music history who have followed this golden rule, Dresden's Wucan prove their ability to evolve artistically with their latest album 'Axioms'. On 'Axioms', the four-piece heavy rock formation led by band leader Francis Tobolsky mixes the characteristic features of their three previous studio albums 'Sow The Wind' (2015), 'Reap The Storm' (2017) and 'Heretic Tongues' (2023) with fresh ideas, giving them a broader stylistic base and a more conceptually defined sound. In other words: In addition to the tried-and-tested cross-references to hard, kraut and eastern rock and metal influences, the current eight songs are characterized by an additional coloration ranging from progressive rock to occasional electronic elements to a playful jazz attitude. Or as Francis aptly puts it: “The basis of our music is international hard rock from the seventies with contemporary influences, which this time are even more pompous, brute and multi-layered.”
