Topped off by a wonderfully bloody artwork, the material on the album oscillates between very Swedish sounding saws ('Into Obliteration';) and ecstatically hideous Doom from the beat of Autopsys back and forth. Even black metal blasts like in 'Festering Alive'; can be heard, while the band sometimes swings, sometimes is breakneckly fast on their way. Fast-paced sweepers like the opening 'Resurrect the Source';, the outrageously catchy 'The Trophy'; or the thrash tango 'Desolate Animation'; are bursting with youthful exuberance as well as with the kind of compositional art one would expect from experienced masters . . . to which Evoked will inevitably catch up.
